„Becoming Equestrian in the Bronze Age”

Katherine Kanne (University College Dublin)

Vortrag auf Einladung der ÖGUF

Spanning two millennia, the Bronze Age was a transformative period in European prehistory and human-horse relationships - a time when people became equestrian with the expansion of the modern domestic horse lineage, riding, and chariotry. Bridging the deep co-evolutionary history of people and horses with the ways in which we are still becoming equestrian today, Dr Kanne brings together the latest scientific evidence including the bioarchaeology, archaeogenetics, and biogeochemistry of people and horses, alongside the study of equestrian technologies, to explore how people became equestrian in the Bronze Age, forever altering travel, trade, warfare, and society.
